Perry Township Receives $7.8M Grant to Boost Student Opportunities

Perry Township Schools just earned a $7.8 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to help expand career-focused learning opportunities for students. The funding comes at a crucial time, as the district recently lost support from another major teaching grant. With the new funds, students will explore paths like trade careers, engineering, and entrepreneurship starting as early as elementary school. The district plans to roll out programs over the next several years and is also eyeing an additional $40 million grant to further support their mission.

Construction Starting on Smith Valley Road Roundabouts

Starting July 26th, construction begins on two new roundabouts at Smith Valley & Averitt Roads and Smith Valley & Woodmen Boulevard. The roads will be closed during the project, which is expected to wrap up early this fall. If you’re heading to Southwest Elementary or Greenwood High School, plan to detour via US 31 and Smith Valley. Be sure to allow extra travel time and stay alert in construction zones!
