Happy Friday, October 24th!
If you haven’t picked out a costume yet, may we suggest the classic “last-minute-parent-in-cat-ears” or the timeless “ghost-but-make-it-a-bed-sheet”? With events popping up all over town faster than your kid can say “trick-or-treat,” this weekend is the main event for all things spooky, sweet, and sugar-fueled. So dig through those dress-up bins, fuel up on candy (for quality control, of course), and get ready to make some Halloween magic!
In today’s South Side Scoop:
👮♂️ Clark-Pleasant Officer Isaac Brown is recognized with the Lifesaver Award for his heroic actions and service to the community.
🏠 Main Street Vintage announces a move to a new (nearby!) downtown Greenwood location this November.
🎃 Halloween events are happening everywhere this weekend and we’re continuing to update our online Fall & Halloween Event Guide with new ones as they pop up!
Let’s get to it!
THE DIGEST
Clark Pleasant Officer Honored for Heroic Actions
A big round of applause for Clark-Pleasant Police Officer Isaac Brown, who was recently awarded the Lifesaver Award for his courageous actions on September 26, 2025. Chief Chad Pryce presented the honor, recognizing Officer Brown’s quick response and dedication to keeping our community safe. His bravery and selflessness serve as a shining example of what it means to wear the badge with pride. We’re grateful to have officers like him watching over the southside!
Hoosier Chefs Bring Home World Titles at Food Championships
Two Indiana chefs cooked their way to the top at the 2025 World Food Championships, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center. Competing against chefs from 35 states and 14 countries, Franklin’s Daniel McDonald earned gold in the Bacon category, while Indianapolis’ Cindy Hawkins claimed her first-ever World Championship in Dessert. With more than 110 Hoosier chefs participating, Indiana made an impressive mark on the global culinary stage. Looks like the secret ingredient to world-class cooking might just be a dash of Hoosier pride!
LOCAL BUSINESS
New Location Coming Soon for Main Street Vintage
Main Street Vintage may be packing up, but don’t worry, you won’t have to go far to find them! The locally loved shop is moving from 280 W. Main Street to 241 W. Main Street (yep, right across the street in the former Ember Boutique spot) on November 25th. The move marks an exciting next step for the growing business as they look forward to new memories, new faces, and plenty more vintage charm. So when you head out for your Christmas shopping, you can still park in the same place, cross the street and pop in to see their new space!
