Happy Friday, South Siders! The school year is kicking into gear – backpacks are packed, buses are rolling, and parents everywhere are adjusting to the new normal (or at least pretending to). I’m still counting down until my preschooler starts after Labor Day so these newsletters aren’t typed at midnight with one eye open. In the meantime, this weekend is packed with fun events, so grab your calendar, rally your crew, and let’s make the most of these late–summer days.
In today’s South Side Scoop:

LOCAL BUSINESS
Humane Society of Johnson County Breaks Ground on Low–Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic
The Humane Society of Johnson County is breaking ground today, August 15th, on the county’s first full–service low–cost spay and neuter clinic. Located at their current site on N. Graham Road in Franklin, the 3,200–square–foot addition is expected to open early next year and will save the nonprofit an estimated $40,000 annually. Backed by nearly $600,000 in grants and donations, the clinic will operate three days a week, aiming to spay and neuter 3,600 animals in its first year. Services will be offered at a fraction of traditional vet costs, making care more accessible for local pet owners.
