Franklin College Hosts Leadership Expert Mike Robbins

Franklin College welcomes leadership and team performance expert Mike Robbins as the final speaker in its 2024-2025 Convocation Lecture Series on March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Branigin Room of the Napolitan Student Center. Robbins will present “Nothing Changes Until You Do,” focusing on growth mindset and self-compassion as keys to success. A former professional baseball player, Robbins has spent 24 years delivering keynotes and writing books on leadership, teamwork, and company culture. The event is free and open to the public, with a book signing to follow, and attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

Increased Train Speeds & Frequency in Franklin

The City of Franklin has announced that train frequency, length, and speed will be increasing, with speeds reaching up to 49 MPH starting March 10th. Residents are urged to use caution at railroad crossings and be aware of the changes. The city posted reminders on social media to stay alert and follow safety precautions when traveling near tracks. Stay safe and always look, listen, and wait before crossing!

Lane Closures on I-69 for Signage Installation

Starting on or after February 11, lane closures will be in effect on I-69 southbound between Big Bend Road (MM 133) and Fox Hollow Road (MM 128) in Morgan and Monroe counties. On I-69 northbound, the right lane will be closed between West Fullerton Pike (MM 116) and West Vernal Pike (MM 119) in Monroe County, though exits will remain open. Indiana State Police and INDOT urge drivers to slow down, stay alert, and avoid distractions while traveling through work zones.

Greenwood Board Denies Chick-fil-A Variance

The Greenwood Board of Zoning Appeals denied a waiver for a proposed Chick-fil-A near I-65 and Main Street exit, requiring the developer to revisit its plans. The board voted 4-1 against waiving the drive-thru bypass lane requirement, citing traffic concerns, despite previously approving other variances for the site. The restaurant's representatives argued that closing a drive-thru lane during non-peak hours could help, but board members remained unconvinced. With the variance denied, Chick-fil-A must now revise its site plan to address the bypass lane requirement before resubmitting it to the city.

Franklin Community Schools is offering a free, life-saving suicide prevention training for students, parents, and adults.
