Johnson County Tox Box Reopens for Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Johnson County Recycling District (JCRD) Tox Box has reopened at 1051 Hospital Rd. in Franklin and will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through April 4 before relocating to Graham Road. This Household Hazardous Waste collection program is for Johnson County residents only, and appointments are required - no drive-ups, businesses, or contractors accepted. Residents can dispose of items like household cleaners, yard chemicals, automotive fluids, and oil-based paint, but latex paint, batteries, and light bulbs are not accepted. To schedule an appointment, visit jcrd.org.
Local Communities Awarded Nearly $3 Million in INDOT Road Improvement Grants
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has awarded over $200 million in Community Crossings matching grants to 245 Indiana cities, towns, and counties for local road and bridge projects. Franklin and New Whiteland will receive nearly $3 million combined, while other surrounding areas will get over $5 million. Since 2016, the Community Crossings program has provided over $2 billion for local infrastructure improvements. Learn more about the grants and see the full list of recipients on the INDOT website.
