Young Entrepreneurs Receive $500 Grants

The Franklin Chamber Foundation awarded its inaugural young entrepreneur grants to Connor Baldwin, 16, who runs a custom bait business, and Hattie Lou Blooms, 11, who sells flower bouquets and donates 20% of her proceeds to local causes. Each received $500 to support their growing ventures.

Near Record Highs This Week

Central Indiana could see record highs on Tuesday and Wednesday, with rising humidity making it feel like triple digits. Make sure to stay hydrated, stay cool, and check on those that may be vulnerable to the heat!

South Side Restaurants Participating in Devour Indy’s Summerfest

Devour Indy - the greater Indianapolis area’s premier dining experience - is back with Summerfest.

A handful of south side restaurants are participating with ‘Devour’ menus.

Devour Indy Summerfest runs from August 19th - September 1st.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Zip City/Former Indy Indoor Sports Park Building Has Future Plans for a Church

The Metropolitan Development Commission is considering a rezoning request for 10.57 acres at 6530 and 6650 Bluff Road in Perry Township. The property, currently zoned SU-16 (for recreation and entertainment), is vacant and has a large building and parking area.

The proposal seeks to rezone the land to SU-1 to allow for religious uses. The commission staff supports the rezoning, provided certain conditions are met, including tree preservation, the dedication of a 45-foot right-of-way along Bluff and Banta Roads, and site maintenance in a clean and orderly manner.

The Town Council meeting on August 27, 2024, will cover various community matters. Key agenda items include discussions on local development, public infrastructure improvements, and budget allocations for upcoming town projects.
