Spring Break is in Full Swing on the Southside

Spring Break season has arrived on the Southside, and it’s time for a little rest, relaxation, and maybe even some sunshine! This week, students and staff from Greenwood, Clark-Pleasant, and Center Grove are kicking off their break and soaking up that well-earned time off. Perry Township and Franklin Township are cruising into their second week of fun, while Franklin Community Schools are counting down the days—they'll start their break on Friday, March 28th. Whether you're traveling or staying close to home, we hope everyone enjoys a refreshing and joy-filled break!

Center Grove Senior Named 2025 Indiana Academic All-Star

Center Grove High School senior Alexander Fan has been named a 2025 Indiana Academic All-Star by the Indiana Association of School Principals. He is one of just 50 students selected from 281 nominees statewide and was recognized for his excellence in academics, leadership, extracurriculars, and community involvement. Fan plans to attend Princeton University this fall, where he’ll join the Army ROTC and study computer engineering or computer science. Congratulations Alexander!

Johnson County Farms Honored with Hoosier Homestead Awards

Fifty-six Indiana farm families were honored at the Statehouse on Friday with the Hoosier Homestead Award, recognizing their dedication to agriculture and family farming. Among the recipients were two local farms from Johnson County. The Van Nuys and Yoke families each received the Sesquicentennial Award for maintaining family ownership of their farms for over 150 years. The Hoosier Homestead Award celebrates farms that have been in the same family for at least 100 years and highlights their contributions to Indiana’s agricultural heritage. Congratulations to those families!
