Greenwood’s Comprehensive Plan Meeting

On Wednesday, the city of Greenwood hosted a public meeting for residents to give feedback on the city’s comprehensive plan.

The comprehensive plan dives into redeveloping Old Town Greenwood, adding a “New Town” Greenwood at Maint Street and 65, along with revamping the Greenwood Park Mall.

Some of the key initiatives are:

  • Continue transportation improvements to enhance safety and reduce congestion

  • Enhance the bicycle and pedestrian network through trail development and crossing improvements

  • Support redevelopment and reinvestment in vacant and underutilized properties

  • Grow public safety

  • Use new growth areas to diversify housing and job opportunities

Crew Car Wash Denied Zoning Appeal

On Tuesday, the Johnson County Board of Zoning Appeals heard the case from Crew Car Wash to put in a car wash at the NE corner of S. Morgantown Rd. & W. Smith Valley Rd.

Crew was looking for a special exception for their car wash, but it was denied, despite the staff recommending approval of the request.

Several parties spoke up in support of denying the request and the board granted the denial of the special exemption.

Whiteland Adds to its School Board

The Clark-Pleasant school board held a special meeting on Tuesday night to approve its news board member - Patrick Guilfoy.

Guilfoy’s family lives in the township and he is the principal of South Creek Elementary School in Franklin Township. His wife is also a principal in the township.

LOCAL BUSINESS

There’s a new Crumbl Cookie on the south side! Crumbl Cookie’s Southport location opens today at 8am and will remain open until midnight. The location of the new Crumbl is 6905 S. Emerson Ave. It is just northeast of the intersection of Emerson and Southport.

Old Town Greenwood Final Fridays

Old Town Greenwood will keep store doors open, give diners’ deals, and play host to local artisans, entertainers and musicians during the inaugural Final Friday Festivities on today (Friday, July 26) from 5-8 p.m. in the Old Town commercial district.

Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade at The Historic Artcraft Theatre

Showings of the movie will be at 2pm and 730pm both today and tomorrow. The bar will be open for evening showtimes.

Arts at the Amp - Zumba

Head to the Franklin Amphitheater this morning from 9-10am for a free Zumba class.

Arts at the Amp - Magical Karaoke and Move Night

Franklin’s DriveHubler.com’s Amphitheater will also be hosting a magical karoka and movie night tonight from 530-11pm.

Karaoke will run from 530-9pm, then an outdoor screen of Trolls 3 will start at 930pm.

Whiteland Community Night - Party at the Park

Located at the field east of the Whiteland Fire Station at 141 S. State St., Whiteland is hosting their Party in the Park. The event runs from 5-9pm and will have live music featuring 90 Proof, hot air balloon rides, inflatables, and fireworks.

Food, beer, and wine will also be available for purchase from Whit’s Inn, Azteca Taco Truck, Frigid Frog, and more!

SH Stems July Floral Arrangement Workshop

Millie’s Ice Cream Co. in Franklin is hosting another floral arrangement workshop tonight from 6-8pm.

Cigar Swap & Bourbon Share

Hosted by the Cigar Club of Indiana, bring your favorite cigar ($10+ value) to be placed into the pool for a random draw. Plus, bring your favorite bourbon to share with others.

Hopewell Corn Roast

The 65th Annual Hopewell Corn Roast. Tickets are $15, kids 5 and under eat free. Tickets are available at the door and this year's event is dine in! Each meal consists of a ham sandwich, baked or green beans, coleslaw, fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, dessert and of course all the fresh sweet corn you can eat.

Women’s Self Defense Seminar

The Franklin Jiu Jitsu Club is hosting a three hour women’s self defense seminar Saturday morning.

From 9am-12pm, Felecia Bain will teach practical self-defense skills.

The cost is $15 per person, or $5 if you’re an active high school or college student. $100 of registration fees will be donated to the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Back-to-School Blast at Journey Church

Back-to-School Blast is a fun event for the entire family! They'll have inflatables, food trucks, games and other fun things to do.

Dollie’s Farm: Moments with Mom

Each mother & daughter pair will pick 40 flowers together and then join the group as the Dollie’s designer gives tips on building the perfect bouquet.

Mashcraft’s Paint Your Pet Fundraiser for Blythe Potter

Head on over to Mashcraft from 1-3pm on Saturday to paint a beautiful pop art portrait of your pet or favorite animal.

The cost is $50, but $15 per ticket will be donated to Bluthe Potter’s campaign. Tickets can be purchased here.

10 Pins Turns 5 Party

Head over to 10 Pins in Franklin from 2-6pm for their ‘10 Pins Turns 5’ Party. From 2-5pm, Lickity Split Snoball Shop will be posted up. From 4-6pm there will be a bowling contest with prizes for the winner and team average winner.

Themed cocktails will also be available.

Baa Baa, Blooms, and Yoga

Dollie’s Farm in Franklin is hosting a Goat Yoga Series on Saturday evening from 5-6pm.

The price is $44 and includes yoga class with goats sharing your mat, a glass of iced lavender mint tea harvested from the farm, and a delicately simple bouquet to take home.
