Acadia Learning gives families unlimited tutoring for $40/month:

  • Your kid gets help from someone who remembers

  • No more guilt about what you forgot

  • Being a great parent doesn't require 7th grade math

It’s Tuesday, it’s freezing, and yes, the snow is still everywhere.

With bitter cold temperatures, negative wind chills, and snow still piled everywhere, many schools are closed again and switching to e‑learning today. Before you head out, double‑check the events listed below. I’ve gathered all the updates I could find, but in weather like this things can change quickly. Stay warm, stay safe, and let’s see what’s happening around town!

In today’s South Side Scoop:

  • ❄️ Roads are still being cleared after heavy snow and extreme cold, with some businesses closed, mail paused, and trash pickup delayed—double-check plans before heading out.

  • 📚 Downtown Greenwood will soon welcome The Story Nook, a new bookstore and tea café focused on community, inclusion, and connection.

  • 🗓️ A lighter midweek lineup of mostly indoor and virtual events rolls out Tuesday–Thursday as the southside slowly gets back to normal.

Let’s get to it!

DIGEST

Crews are still working hard to clear roads and restore some sense of normalcy after the heavy snow and bitter cold. Many businesses remain closed, mail delivery has been paused in some areas, and trash pickup is delayed — so it’s best to double-check before heading anywhere. If you have plans, call ahead or check online for updates. Fingers crossed for a more functional Wednesday... even if it's still absolutely freezing out! Stay safe southsiders!

LOCAL BUSINESS

A Cozy New Chapter in Downtown Greenwood

A warm welcome is coming soon to 221 S. Main Street in Downtown Greenwood, where The Story Nook will soon open in the former Fresh Pots location. Part bookstore, part tea café, this new space is built around community, kindness, and connection inspired by the founder’s personal journey with her son, Braedon. With a mission to create opportunity and celebrate every individual, The Story Nook is more than just a place to grab a book or a cup of tea; it’s a place to feel seen, supported, and inspired. Stay tuned for opening details!
