Happy Monday, January 12th!
You’ll be getting two Scoops this week (today and again on Thursday) because even though it feels like there are 45 days in January, the Southside is starting to wake back up with events and happenings. If you’re dragging a bit, don’t worry… you’re not alone. Let’s ease into the week together and see what’s going on around town!
In today’s South Side Scoop:
🍦 We’re officially switching to two newsletters a week. This Monday edition covers events through Thursday, with a second Scoop landing Thursday for weekend plans.
👑 From Addie Morris earning Miss Congeniality honors at the Miss Indiana State Fair pageant to a brand-new book club launching at MashCraft, there’s plenty of local good news to celebrate.
📚️ Art classes, author talks, kids’ activities, tastings, and live events fill the calendar as we ease into the week with lots of local options.
Let’s get to it!

We’re Switching Things Up: New Scoop Schedule
We’re trying out a new cadence for the newsletter to help you plan your week (and weekend) even better! You’ll still receive your regular Monday newsletter, but it will now cover events from Monday through Thursday. Then, starting this week, you’ll get a second email on Thursday with everything happening Friday through Sunday; just like our previous Friday newsletters, but one day earlier. We hope this shift gives you a little more time to plan, and we’d love to hear your feedback as we roll it out!
From Miss Johnson County to Miss Congeniality
Big congratulations to Addie Morris, Johnson County’s 2025 Fair Queen, who was recently named Miss Congeniality at the Miss Indiana State Fair pageant! A proud Franklin Community High School graduate and current Indiana University student (Go Hoosiers!), Addie was honored during the statewide competition held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Her warmth and kindness stood out among contestants from across Indiana. Way to represent the southside with grace and Hoosier pride!
