TOGETHER WITH

Well, look who showed up—Monday, fashionably late but still just as extra. It’s May 5th, and while some of us are contemplating our third taco of the day, the rest are just trying to remember where we left our motivation (check behind the couch, next to last week’s to-do list). Whether you’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo or just surviving the first Monday of May, we’re here to kick off the week with a little local flavor—and zero judgment if your lunch plans involve chips and queso as the main course.

In today’s South Side Scoop:

  • 👑 Two Perry Township grads are now official 500 Festival Princesses—drop your Qs for their upcoming hometown Q&A!

  • 🚧 Roundabout construction kicks off Monday at CR 144 & Morgantown—detours ahead!

  • 💚 Support mental health with a scavenger hunt & glow run this Saturday in Johnson County!

Let’s get to it!

THE DIGEST

Perry Township Alumni Crowned 500 Festival Princesses

Two Perry Township alumni have earned a royal title! Congratulations to Hannah Cooper (Southport High) and Maria Ayala (Perry Meridian High) on being named 500 Festival Princesses—an honor recognizing leadership, academic excellence, and community service. As part of their celebration, the former Cardinals and Falcons will return to their roots for a special Q&A video. Stay tuned, and help give them a warm hometown welcome by dropping your questions in the comments on Perry Township’s Facebook page!

Roundabout Construction Begins Monday at CR 144 and Morgantown

Construction of a long-anticipated roundabout at County Road 144 and Morgantown Road kicks off Monday in Bargersville. The $1.27 million joint project between Johnson County and the town aims to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, enhance lighting, and upgrade storm sewers. The intersection has been considered dangerous for years and was included in the county’s I-69 Corridor Plan back in 2018. A full closure of the intersection is scheduled to begin May 27, with project completion expected on or after July 29. Residents are encouraged to follow posted signs and use caution around construction zones.

Join the Movement for Mental Health & Recovery

Two events, one goal: to support wellness and recovery in our community! Mark your calendar for this Saturday, May 10th, for the kick off of Mental Health Awareness Month with two inspiring community events in Johnson County! Download the Goosechase app, enter code “9G2D38,” and complete fun, wellness-themed missions across the county through May 18th for a chance to win gift cards from local businesses!

Then lace up for RISE Recovery Coalition’s Glow for Hope 5K Run/Walk at the Franklin Amphitheater. This free, family-friendly event raises awareness and support for those in substance use recovery. It is a free event, but registration is required!
