Franklin Alumna Inducted into Hall of Fame for Public Service
Franklin Community Schools recently honored 1965 graduate Sonia “Sunny” (Hardin) Leerkamp by inducting her into the Franklin Community High School Alumni Hall of Fame. A dedicated public servant, Leerkamp’s career includes groundbreaking work in Indiana’s justice system, such as addressing mental health and domestic violence issues and founding the Child Protection Team. Locally, Leerkamp remains active in community organizations and continues to inspire with her service and leadership. Thank you for all you do Sunny!
Starting January 1, Microchips Required for Marion County Pets
Marion County pet owners must microchip their cats, dogs, and ferrets under a new ordinance aimed at addressing stray animals and backyard breeding. Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) will focus on educating owners during the first year, offering resources for affordable microchipping (as low as $10). Microchips are the most effective way to reunite lost pets with their families, serving as an essential ID for animals. Stay compliant and ensure your furry friends are protected!
