The Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) will begin accepting applications for its wide range of scholarships on January 1. Sophomore Drake McClurg has been named the top baseball player in Indiana for the class of 2027 by Prep Baseball Report. Despite the recognition, the switch-hitting phenom remains humble, saying, “Rankings don’t really matter. I still have to go out there and do what I have to do.” McClurg, who committed to Indiana University in 8th grade, looks forward to helping his Center Grove Trojans chase their first state title this spring. With his talent and determination, McClurg’s future on the baseball diamond is bright.

The Johnson County Animal Shelter is offering free adoptions for cats and dogs through December 31st in an effort to reduce overcrowding. Adoption fees, which typically range from $50-$150, are waived and include spay/neuter, vaccinations, de-worming, and microchipping. Shelter staff vet all potential adopters to ensure the animals are matched with appropriate homes. Donations to offset the waived fees are encouraged but not required.
