Weâre officially in the Final Countdown to Christmas, which means: kids are in their last week of school before break, clinging to holiday cheer and maybe a little too much sugar; parents are triple-checking gift lists, half-wrapping presents, and fully Googling âeasy teacher giftsâ; and somewhere in the mix, the catâs tangled in the Christmas lights again.

JCCF Scholarship Applications Open January 1, 2025
The Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) will begin accepting applications for its wide range of scholarships on January 1. Students are encouraged to carefully review deadlines, as they vary by scholarship. A missed deadline means a missed opportunity! The streamlined process allows applicants to complete a single common form, with additional details submitted for specific scholarships. Center Groveâs Drake McClurg Ranked #1 Baseball Player in Indiana
Sophomore Drake McClurg has been named the top baseball player in Indiana for the class of 2027 by Prep Baseball Report. Despite the recognition, the switch-hitting phenom remains humble, saying, âRankings donât really matter. I still have to go out there and do what I have to do.â McClurg, who committed to Indiana University in 8th grade, looks forward to helping his Center Grove Trojans chase their first state title this spring. With his talent and determination, McClurgâs future on the baseball diamond is bright.

The Johnson County Animal Shelter is offering free adoptions for cats and dogs through December 31st in an effort to reduce overcrowding. Adoption fees, which typically range from $50-$150, are waived and include spay/neuter, vaccinations, de-worming, and microchipping. Shelter staff vet all potential adopters to ensure the animals are matched with appropriate homes. Donations to offset the waived fees are encouraged but not required.
