Applications Open for CampGRIZ 2025 at Franklin College
CampGRIZ at Franklin College is now accepting applications for its 2025 academic summer camp, open to students entering 5th through 10th grade. Held June 9-13, campers will explore STEM and the arts through hands-on learning with Franklin College faculty, students, and alumni. The camp runs from 9am to 4:30pm daily, with early drop-off and late pickup options. The fee is $275, with free or reduced options available for qualifying families, and meals and snacks are included. Register now here!
Free Sharps Container Exchange Program Available in Johnson County
The Johnson County Health Department has launched a free sharps container exchange and disposal program in partnership with Stericycle. Residents can pick up and drop off 5-quart sharps containers at the new JCHD office (95 S. Drake St, Franklin) Monday through Friday, 8amā4:30pm. Only approved sharps (like needles and lancets) in proper sharps containers will be acceptedāno medications or household waste. One container is provided per household, with extras available for purchase at local pharmacies.

Huckabyās Smokehouse Announces Closure
Itās a bittersweet farewell as Huckabyās Smokehouse (located at 1140 North SR-135 in Greenwood) has officially announced its closure. After years of serving up smoky goodness and being part of countless community events, the team is grateful for the memories and support. While the storefront is now closed, all existing bookings, pickups, and drop-offs will still be honored. For questions, guests can reach out directly to Chef Chip Huckaby at [email protected].

Heāll read from his newest work, share insights into his creative process, and answer audience questions. The talk will be held in the Henderson Conference Room on the second floor of the Johnson Center for Fine Arts. Itās free and open to the public!
