A stretch of U.S. 31 in Johnson County has been officially renamed the “State Trooper Aaron Smith Memorial Highway” in tribute to fallen Indiana State Police Trooper Aaron N. Smith of Franklin. The dedication follows the passing of a resolution authored by State Rep. Michelle Davis, ensuring Trooper Smith’s bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Smith, a Whiteland High School graduate and U.S. Army National Guard veteran, lost his life in 2023 while courageously attempting to stop a fleeing suspect. Surrounded by family, law enforcement, and community leaders, the highway renaming stands as a lasting reminder of his dedication and heroism.

Join Uplift Johnson County for Uplift Elijah Guys & Gals Basket Bingo on Thursday, August 14th at 6:30pm at The Barn at Bay Horse Inn in Greenwood. This lively event features bingo, baskets, bites, and beverages, all to support Elijah, the young son of Whiteland High School teacher Bekah Raab, who is bravely battling neuroblastoma.
