DIGEST

Roncalli Grad Emma Halter Returns Home to Play for Indy Ignite

Southside native and Roncalli alum Emma Halter is making waves as she returns to Indiana to join the Indy Ignite Pro Volleyball Team. After a standout collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns, Halter was drafted to play professionally right here at home. Indy Ignite, which plays at the 7,500-seat Fishers Event Center, kicks off its second season next month after a hugely successful debut year. Halter's homecoming is a proud moment for southside sports fans and a great chance to support one of our own on the pro stage!

Support for the Boedicker Family of PMHS

Kert Boedicker, beloved principal at Perry Meridian High School, recently received devastating news; his 15-month-old granddaughter, Madelyn, has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, adrenocortical carcinoma. While Madelyn is receiving care from Riley and top specialists in Boston, the treatment is considered out-of-network, leaving the family with major medical expenses. The Southside community is rallying to support the Boedickers during this unimaginable time. If you’re able to help, donations can be made via the PMHS PTSA page. Every bit helps, and all thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

Greenwood's Lighted Trail and Holiday Fun Now Open

Greenwood’s holiday season kicks off with the return of the Lighted Trail at Amphitheater Park (100 Surina Way) which opened yesterday. This dazzling walk-through display features over 42,000 lights, including trees, arches, figures, and a glowing candy cane tunnel all lit from dusk till dawn. Throughout December, enjoy festive stage entertainment and start a new tradition with a holiday selfie.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Ruby Tuesday on US 31 Closes as Chain Faces Uncertain Future

The Ruby Tuesday location at 7940 US 31 South in Indianapolis has permanently closed. The closure follows the company's 2020 Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, which led to the shutdown of over 180 locations nationwide. Once operating nearly 1,000 restaurants at its peak, the chain now has fewer than 200 remaining, signaling a possible end for the longtime casual dining brand.
