Empowering Women Through Jiu-Jitsu

Wednesday nights at Franklin Jiu Jitsu Club are dedicated to GirlsCave, a women’s Jiu-Jitsu self-defense class founded by Felecia Bain. This welcoming environment allows women to train together, building confidence and self-defense skills.

Katie Ray and Sarah Zeilinga, both mothers, found a new passion for Jiu-Jitsu through these classes. Zeilinga, now also attending co-ed sessions, trains with her Black belt husband. The program has seen over 45 women join since its inception, offering both the sport and self-defense aspects of Jiu-Jitsu.

A special self-defense seminar is set for Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Bargersville Plan Commission Approves Housing Development With Multiple Commitments from Developer

It’s no secret that the town of Bargersville is growing, and a much-discussed plot of land off of 135 had a future direction approved this week. The Bargersville Plan Commission approved a 264-lot subdivision (163 homes & 101 townhomes) on Monday night.

In exchange for the approval, the commission asked for commitments from the developer, which included:

• No rentals shorter than 18 months in the HOA docs

• Upkeep & maintenance from the owners

• No access easement at Happy Valley Place

• Land donation for a public park

Johnson County June Home Sales Figures

In the month of June, 220 Johnson County homes went pending, a -3.5% decrease from May and a -2.0% decrease from June 2023. As for active listings, Johnson County had 344 homes for sale in June, a 37.6% increase from June 2023.

As for the average sales price in June, Johnson County’s was $360,468, a 7.9% increase from June 2023.

Aspen Creek Restaurant is Coming to Town

Aspen Creek Grill is set to break ground on its newest location at 1287 N. Emerson Ave. near the Walmart on Monday, July 22nd.
