TOGETHER WITH

Happy Thursday… although at this point, who even knows what day it is after three straight snow days, subzero wind chills, and a calendar that feels like it’s stuck on repeat. We’re officially living in a freezer, and I’m not sure which version of Indiana this is, but I’d like to speak to the manager.

Bundle up, double-check events before heading out (if you dare), and hang in there. Warmer days have to be out there somewhere… right?

In today’s South Side Scoop:

  • 🤼 Southport wrestlers stepped up after the snowstorm, shoveling driveways across Perry Township to help neighbors while raising funds for their program.

  • 🍕 Local business news includes Pizza Town USA expanding into Greenwood, while Franklin’s Noodles & Company prepares to close as part of a national restructuring.

  • 🎶 Despite the cold, the weekend is packed with events from trivia nights and craft classes to live music and family-friendly activities.

Let’s get to it!

THE DIGEST

Southport Wrestlers Working Hard On and Off the Mat

After this weekend’s snowstorm, the Southport Wrestling team was spotted all over Perry Township, but not just for fun. Led by Coach Nick Skinner, the team shoveled driveways to help residents dig out while raising money to cover their off-season expenses. Several neighbors shared their appreciation in the Perry Township chat, thanking the team for their hard work. A great example of hustle, heart, and community spirit from these student-athletes!

LOCAL BUSINESS

Pizza Town USA Expanding to Greenwood

A new slice of home is coming to Greenwood! Pizza Town USA is opening a second location in the Sugar Grove Shops at 4800 Smith Valley Road bringing their beloved pies to the community. They're aiming to open around the second week of March and will be taking applications next Monday and Tuesday if you’re looking to join the team. Keep your eyes (and appetites) open because this local favorite is about to make Center Grove even tastier!

Franklin Noodles & Company Closing Amid National Restructuring

Noodles & Company in Franklin will permanently close its doors on Tuesday, February 3rd. Located at 2182 North Morton Street, the restaurant is among ~30 locations being closed nationwide as part of the company’s strategic restructuring plan. In a press release, CEO Joe Christina stated the closures are meant to “strengthen the overall health of the brand” and focus on restaurants with the strongest potential for growth. While it's tough to see a local favorite go, this move is part of the chain's broader plan to position itself for long-term success.
