Many local schools are starting today or tomorrow, which means buses are back on the roads, backpacks are being stuffed with fresh supplies, and parents everywhere are either celebrating or tearing up (or maybe both). A Special First Day Welcome in Whiteland
Depending on when youāre reading this, itās either a heads-up or an explanation for the big police and fire presence near Pleasant Crossing Elementary today. The Clark-Pleasant Police Department, along with area fire agencies, is giving one kindergartner a truly unforgettable first day of school. This brave little student, who has been battling a rare, inoperable brain cancer, is getting an escorted ride to school surrounded by flashing lights, smiling faces, and cheers of support. Itās a beautiful reminder of how our community comes together to celebrate lifeās precious moments. So if you see the parade of vehicles, honk, wave, and join in making her first day extra special!
JCCF Opens Lilly Endowment Scholarship Applications August 1
The Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) will open applications for the 2026 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship this Friday, August 1st. High school seniors interested in applying must submit their completed applications by Friday, August 22nd, at 4pm. The scholarship, which covers full tuition and fees, is awarded annually to outstanding Johnson County students. For details and to apply, visit jccf.org or email [email protected] with questions.
