Pack the Local Pantries: Kroger and Gleaners Team Up to Fight Hunger
This weekend, Kroger, Gleaners Food Bank, and volunteers from local pantries will unite to "Pack the Local Pantries" in over a dozen Hoosier communities, including Greenwood and Franklin. The initiative supports Krogerās Zero Hunger | Zero Waste plan, with customer contributions directly benefiting local families facing food insecurity. Volunteers will collect donations at select Kroger stores on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., helping neighbors in need as part of Hunger Action Month.
Custer Baker Intermediate Named AMLE School of Distinction for 2024
Custer Baker Intermediate School (CBIS) has been named one of seventeen AMLE Schools of Distinction for 2024, recognizing its exemplary middle-grade education practices. The school underwent a rigorous review process, including stakeholder interviews and a focus on continuous improvement aligned with AMLE's best practices. CBIS will present its success at the AMLE Annual Conference in November, celebrating its efforts to create a safe, growth-centered learning environment for students.

The Hope Center Receives Donation From Car Show
The car show at the Harvest Moon Festival raised $300 for The Hope Center, a local organization in Bargersville dedicated to helping adults with developmental disabilities learn job skills. A huge thank you to all the car show participants and attendees for making this possible through your generosity and support. Your contributions will make a real difference in our community!
Franklin College Receives $4.5 Million Estate Gift
Franklin College Trustee Rob Brown and his wife Ruth have pledged a $4 million estate gift to the college, along with a $500,000 donation for the renovation of the Elwood Fitness Center. The Browns have been long-time supporters of Franklin College, previously funding the renovation of the Center for Tech Innovation. Their estate gift is undesignated, giving the college flexibility in addressing future needs, while the fitness center renovation will modernize the interior while preserving its historic exterior, enhancing facilities for students and athletic teams.
