đŠ Did You Miss Us? Weâre Back with Your Local Scoop!
Discover what's happening in Greenwood, Center Grove, Franklin, Bargersville, and beyond this week!
TOGETHER WITH
Well, well, wellâŠlook who finally showed up: ME!
I know, I ghosted you last Friday. But in my defense, it was the 4th of July, and I was far too busy perfecting my cannonball technique, taste-testing suspiciously neon potato salads, and ensuring every sparkler in a 5-mile radius felt appreciated. I assumed you were doing the same. (Besides, there were all of three events happening in a twenty-mile radius. I figured weâd save our energy.)
So⊠did you even notice I skipped town, or were you too distracted by fireworks and barbecue smoke? Either way, Iâm back and Iâve got all the local scoop you didnât even know you were missing!
In todayâs South Side Scoop:
â»ïž Recycling Reopens: Johnson County Recycling District is back in action at a new Franklin location with updated guidelines.
đ§ Bridge Work Alert: U.S. 31 in Greenwood will be down to one lane each way through mid-November due to a bridge deck overlay project. Expect delays!
đ Cap & Gown Giveback: Beyond The Thrift is collecting gently-used caps and gowns to help future grads and keep millions of garments out of landfills.
Letâs get to it!

THE DIGEST
Johnson County Recycling District Reopens with New Guidelines
Johnson County Recycling District, newly located at 2250 N Graham Rd in Franklin, officially reopened this past week on July 1st. Theyâre still under construction but are excited to be serving residents again for recycling and household hazardous waste needs. A few guidelines and changes are in place: for example, TVs and monitors arenât accepted, and recyclables should be clean, dry, and loose. The recycling center is now open Tuesday and Friday 8amâ4:30pm, Wednesday 10amâ6pm, Thursday 8amâ4pm, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 8amâ12:30pm.
Bridge Work Begins Monday, July 7th on U.S. 31 in Greenwood
Milestone Contractors, L.P. will start a bridge deck overlay project on U.S. 31 over Pleasant Run Creek in Greenwood on or after Monday, July 7. The work zone spans U.S. 31 between Main Street and Smith Valley Road and should finish by mid-November, with traffic reduced to one lane each way using temporary crossovers. The project is part of a $3.7 million contract awarded in October 2024. INDOT urges drivers to slow down, stay alert, and use caution near work zones, as schedules may change due to weather.
