Johnson County July Home Sales Figures

In July, 221 homes went pending in Johnson County, a -3.5% month-to-month change and a 1.2% year-to-date change.

As for active listings, there were 352 listings in July, a 38.6% increase from July of 2023’s 254.

The average sale price for July was $323,265, a -3.7% change from July of last year.

Helping Local Teens Amidst Tragedy

When we created the South Side Scoop, we aimed to bring you exciting and positive stories, leaving the more somber news to other outlets. However, sometimes the weight of a tragedy touches us all so deeply that we feel compelled to share.

Earlier this week, two local teenage girls tragically lost their parents in an instant and were also injured themselves. The pain and uncertainty they now face is unimaginable.

If you can lend a hand, a GoFundMe has been set up to support them during this incredibly difficult time. It’s been heartening to witness our community come together to rally around these two young girls and offer them love and support.

A New ‘Crew’ Comin’ To Town!

In Monday’s edition of the South Side Scoop, we noted that the Greenwood Board of Zoning Appeals was meeting about a new Crew Carwash at 31 & Worthsville. The board voted 3-0 for three variances for a new Crew Carwash.

This follows a May decision to build a new Crew Carwash in Bargersville on the former Marsh/new family entertainment center's property.

Three New Places Opening in Strip on Emerson Ave.

On the northeast corner of County Line and Emerson, just north of Kroger, there is a new strip on the south side that is home to three exciting new places.

The tenants will be:

• Bibibop - an Asian grill

• Swig - a refreshing soda shop

• Mochinut - A Mochi donut shop

We’ll keep you posted on opening dates as they’re announced.

LL Flooring Closing

LL Flooring, formerly Lumber Liquidators, announced on its website that it will be closing its Greenwood store.

No date for the closure has been announced.

Making Memories Pickleball Tournament

• Date: Friday, August 16th through Sunday, August 18th

The Third Annual Making Memories Classic is a major fundraiser in support of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Indiana. The more than $82,000 raised in the first two years of this event has helped fund research efforts, community education, and 24/7 support for caregivers of individuals with the disease.

Head to Freedom Park tonight to kick off the tournament with food from Metro Diner, beer from MashCraft, live music, and a free pickleball for beginners course.

Flushing Out Violence Concert

Head to the Sycamore at Mallow Run for the 2nd annual Flushing out Violence concert, put on by Assist Indiana. There will be food trucks, a silent auction, and live music from The Trio.

Library After Dark

Experience the library like a kid again—with free rein of the building and no one shushing you…but with snacks and adult beverages! It's also a fundraiser for the Greenwood Library Foundation.

Your ticket includes Laser Tag, a Silent disco, Crafts, a Retro photobooth, Mini golf, Giant games, and more!

Food trucks and adult beverages (Mallow Run Winery and Hoosier Brewing) will be available with items for purchase. Ages 21 and over only.

Kids’ Night Out

Enjoy a child-free evening while the children have fun at the YMCA. This event will include themed games and activities, crafts, a gym, dinner, an evening snack, a movie, and more!

A meal of pizza and fruit will be served. The program is open to children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

WAMMfest, the annual festival celebrating Wine, Art, Music, and microbrew, returns for its 12th year in Greenwood, organized by the Sertoma Club. Enjoy live music across two stages, shop unique art, and savor offerings from Indiana’s top vineyards and breweries. The event is family-friendly, with proceeds supporting local community organizations. It starts at 12 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 at the gate.
