LOCAL BUSINESS

New Development Breaks Ground at 135 & Smokey Row

A new development is underway at State Road 135 and Smokey Row Road, with ground officially broken on the project. Preliminary plans include Ale Emporium, Swig, First Watch, Family Leisure, a nail salon, and Five Guys, with additional tenants still to be announced. The goal is for businesses to begin opening in spring 2026, though details may shift as construction progresses. This highly anticipated project is expected to bring a mix of dining, retail, and leisure options to the community.

High school football season officially kicked off this past Friday, bringing Friday night lights back to the Southside. We’ll be sharing a look at the upcoming games each Wednesday and then recapping scores every Monday so you don’t miss a play. Stay tuned all season long as we cheer on our local teams under those Friday night lights!
